The Story Of Our Iconic Toronto Harbour Shelving Units

The Story Of Our Iconic Toronto Harbour Shelving Units

These gorgeous Toronto harbour shelving Units are made from reclaimed hemlock from the old Queen's Wharf Harbourfront. This is wood that has served an important purpose in the development our city for well over a century. In fact, Queen's Warf hemlock could date as far back as 1730, and pieces of the harbour continue to be dredged up to this day by city planners to make way for new developments. Fortunately, there are folks out there like our friends at Canadian Salvage Timber who take the time to salvage these relics and offer it up to makers.

The Shelves are nestled between the ends of a more easily recognizable piece of Toronto history. Iconic cast iron radiators which have been used to heat homes in Toronto for almost 100 years are the solider-like pillars of this product. They serve as a reminder of a time when even the most utilitarian fixtures featured high-style design and fine craftsmanship. We aim to celebrate their rich history and pleasing aesthetic by making them a focal point of the unit.

This product line is a functional representation of Toronto’s rich history of design and infrastructure. The natural cool colouring of the hemlock, paired with the stripped cast iron makes a bold, raw aesthetic that will be at home among tradition furniture or in a modern contemporary space. Contact us for a quote on custom dimensions to suit your space.

Toronto Collection: Signage

Following Adam's move to Toronto, we made a collection of distinctly Toronto signage to celebrate our new city and all it's monikers. This collection has been insanely popular, which is no surprise as we've come to learn Torontonian's love to rep their city! We've even made it into a local landmark at The Everleigh on King st. Check out the different fonts, finishes, and styles we use to showcase Toronto in all it's glory. marquee lighting, signage 416, Toronto marquee lighting, signage 416, Toronto marquee lighting, signage Toronto 'Toronto, Ontario' - Toronto Collection[/caption] [caption id="attachment_17345" align="aligncenter" width="686"]marquee lighting, signage, Toronto 'Toronto, Ontario' - Toronto Collection[/caption] [caption id="attachment_18319" align="aligncenter" width="575"]marquee lighting, signage, Toronto, everleigh club Photo Cred: @everleighto  - 'THE 6" - Toronto Collection[/caption] [caption id="attachment_18317" align="aligncenter" width="712"]marquee lighting, signage, Toronto, everleigh, design republic 'THE 6' now at home at The Everleigh - Toronto Collection[/caption] [caption id="attachment_17165" align="aligncenter" width="413"]marquee lighting, signage, Toronto Classic T 'dot' - Toronto Collection[/caption] [caption id="attachment_17166" align="aligncenter" width="662"]marquee lighting, signage, Toronto Classic T 'dot' - Toronto Collection[/caption]     [button size='' style='black' text='Back' icon='' icon_color='' link='' target='_self' color='#a1813b' '' border_color='' background_color='' font_style='' font_weight='' text_align='' margin='']

Pie Commission Project

What started as a friendly flirtation over our shared love of savoury meat pies developed into a great partnership with the Pie Commission, and a fellow artisan, Justin Roth of Daily City Train. The owners of the Pie Commission were interested in some seating for their newly opened restaurant on Dundas. After a chat to determine their desired aesthetic we scoured around for the right materials to construct some bench seating, tables, and stools. The exterior walls are now lined with these great red benches. The custom tables built by Adam Fullerton and finished with images by Justin Roth are a focal point in the space and tractor seats provide some more functional seating while adding great character.

In the summertime you can sit out on these one-of-a-kind benches cut out from a water tank off a heating system and steel off-cuts from a local manufacturer. Made specifically for the Pie Commission, the shelves on the bench perfectly fits their take-out box.
